Rosie’s rescue group is Ruff Start Rescue and they partner with LightShine Canine, based in South Dakota, which prides itself on being a “rez dog rescue”. LightShine focuses on rescuing unwanted and stray dogs and cats from the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Indian Reservations, two reservations that are heavily burdened by abandoned animals in need of a second chance. LightShine brought rez dog Rosie to Minnesota in 2019 after she was hit by a car.

When LightShine found Rosie in South Dakota, her leg was broken. It had already started to heal but without medical attention, the leg healed broken and needed to be amputated. She was brought to Minnesota and had her surgery at The University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center. Rosie was fostered by a lovely person named Karyl through her recovery, and then she came to ME!
